History and background of Dolce & Gabbana


My thought : Below is the background of Dolce & Gabbana , we can find the birthplace of Dolce and Gabbana . I think these two places had influenced the designers a lot . I will find more information about these two places later . Also , I think Dolce & Gabbana is special because it is in-charged by two designers which from the point of origin , it is the mixture of two places . Dolce & Gabbana is different from other luxury and high brand like LV and Gucci as D&G has prefernece in several color .






1958
Domenico Dolce was borned on September 13 , 1958, in Polizzi Generosa which is a small village near Palermo in Sicily

1962 Stefano Gabbana was borned on November 14 , 1962, in Venice (Italy)

1980 Dolce and Gabbana met when they were working as assistants in an atelier in Milan

1982 The Italian designers started business together and do free-lance designing for others

1982 The first D&G studio was opened

1985 People started to take notice of the fashion house.

1985 October Dolce and Gabbana were recognized as a promising new talent at the Milano Collezioni fashion show

1986 The designers launched their first self-produced collection - real woman and won international acclaim

1988 October Dolce and Gabbana signed an agreement with Dolce Saverio (a clothing company owned b0y Domenico Dolce's family) . This kick started the labels ready-to-wear range

1989 Dolce & Gabbana opened a boutique in Japan

In the 80s D&G clothes travel to Japan and showcased the label in Tokyo , then came to New York and the flood-gates to prosperity were opened.They opened a new showroom in New York (532 Broadway) and signed an agreement with the Genny group to produce the Complice range for four years.

1993 Dolce & Gabbana designed 1500 costumes for Madonna's world tour of 'The Girlie Show', which brought them even more recognition than they expected.

1993 "Dolce & Gabbana Parfum" fragrance was awarded the international prize as the best feminine fragrance of the year, by the Perfume Academy.

1996 the French award - "Oscar des Parfums" - is given to an Italian fragrance: Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme.

1998 the label was spinning serious money.

1998 May launched the new D&G Eyewear collection.

1999 the D&G Company came full circle, and eventually bought out its parent company by taking over 51 per cent of Dolce Saverio S.p.A., which would be renamed Dolce & Gabbana Industria S.p.A.

1999 The company exclusively designed clothes and accessories for Whitney Houston's World Tour in.

2000 D&G Time, producing designer watches, was launched in early.For Madonna's "Music" album, Dolce and Gabbana were asked to go one step further than just dressing her and her ensemble and were asked to create an entire environment. It may sound daunting, but the Italian lads were up to the task and so transformed New York's legendary Roseland Ballroom and London's Brixton Academy into what will be forever known as cyber-ranches.

2005 their turnover was €750 million.
