After forecasting the color of Dolce & Gabbana in 2010 Fall/Winter Ready to wear, I have some feelings and wanted to share here especially with my groupmates .

First , I think foreasting is really a complex job as there are plenty of information and I have to select the useful one . I remember in the first lecture , when I knew this subject does not have any examintion or even test , I was worry because I did not know how I can get a good mark in this subject although I got a assessment form . Besides , I do not know much about any luxury brand . However , in the first tutorial , Robert said more about the assessment and said all we need to do is to forecast a color family only . At that time , I was happy becasue I thought there is not much to do .

However , after starting to do the research , I shocked . There are many informations related to the brand and most of them are new things for me . For example , now I know every collection has its own inspiration and reason . In the past , I only think that the color is beauitful so the designers use it . After analysis of Dolce & Gabbana's collection , I find that in many collection , the designers want to show the tribute like 09 (Elsa Schiaparelli) , 05(Swinging London) , 04(Helmut Newton) , 03(Marilyn Monroe) etc . In order to foreast the color , now , I think know more about the past collection is esssential .

Besides , I find not only collection , but also other information like advertising , background and retail stores ( I even went to the Dolce & Gabbana retail store which is on the canton road ) . More information (no matter quantity or type of information ) make me feel more difficult to decide which hue will be used . It is because there are many factors affecting the color and if you want to forecast the exact color , it is quite difficult .

For plenty of information , I find the most difficult part is to find the relatioship between the information . For example , I need to find out what is the pattern and features of the color used . This part really increase my analytic skill .

For this assessment , I think it is a valuable experience . It is beacuse if no one force me to analyse and do the research , I think I will not put so many effort on a brand . Honestly , I gain a lot . Apart from know more about Dolce & Gabbana , I started to have interest to know more about luxury brand . For example , I am quite interested in Mcqueen and Westwood . I think I will keep on doing the research for other brand . My groupmate said this assessment become an baby in our mind because we know it from zero to more , also this brand is more important for me now .

Finally , I forecast a color family . I am quite happy because every hue I choosed have reason and I am not guessing . This assessment make me improve myself a lot .


Apart from the my feeling of the Dolce & Gabbana , I want to share my feeling about the ITC 3401 . Once again , in the first few lessons , I was confused and dazzle . Especially the lessons of history , it is a little bit boring . However , the lessons of color theories are really interesting and boarden my horizon . I know more about the color system . Finally I know why sometimes , several sharp hue match togather but look good . The reason is they use the same intensity and the correct color system . I think it is magical and the unique features of color ! Now , when I walk on the street , I will pay attention to the person's dressing code and the color they matched . I think it is interesting !


To conclude , for me , ITC 3401 is really a different course compared with othe courses . It teach me the basic concepts only and requires me to learn more by myself , by visual , by action and by environment . I have to pay more efforts than normal situation if I really want to get something from this course . Honestly , it really boraden my horizon and make me get more involve to the world of FASHION since I did not know any luxury brand well before. But now at least I can know more about one brand , as it is only the starting point , I think I will know more and more brand later . I really enjoy the course .
